Toddy tree or Palm Tree

Toddy Palm grows well in tropical zone. In Myanmar Toddy Palm can be seen the whole central area. They are grown not only as a forest but also as border line of firms. Toddy Palm is a special kind of useful tree. All parts of tree can be used several ways. The stems of the Toddy Palm are used as the pillar of the house. Moreover the leaves are used for roof because its leaf kind is fan-leaved. The house that has fan-leaved roof is reasonable for hot dry zone because its shade is very cool. The strips of leaves are woven into baskets, hats, toys and accessories. There are two kinds of Toddy Palm male and female. The male cannot produce fruit but the female can. The ripe fruit are buried under the sand for one month. One month later the roots of the small plant are consumed as a snack. Both kind produce juices. The juices have two tastes sweet and bitter. The bitter juice is used as alcohol. The sweet juice is boiled to make jiggery. The process of jiggery can study on the way Bagan to Mt.Popa. The petioles are sliced for getting the strips and which are made comfortable chairs, boxes and other kinds of furniture. The dry petioles are used as wood fire. The beauty of Bagan is not sufficient there is no Toddy Palm.
