Chauk Htet Gyi Reclining Buddha Image

Among the famous destinations and pagodas in Yangon , the essential pagodas to show the visitors are Shwedagon Pagoda and Chauk Htet Gyi Reclining Buddha Image. Chauk means six stories and in Yangon there are three kinds of stories pagodas; Ngar Htet Gyi Pagoda (five-story-high Buddha image), Chauk Htet Gyi Pagoda (six-story-high Buddha image) and Koe Htet Gyi (nine-story-high Buddha Image). Although Ngar Htet Gyi and Koe Htet Gyi Buddha Images are sitting form but Chauk Htet Gyi is in reclining form. In Myanmar term , Htet means storey or layer. In our traditional building technology temporary structure or scaffolding or Nyann  is used during construction period. Nyann is built by bamboo and the high of each layer has over eight feet. The layers are as increase as the high of building of pagoda or image. Therefore six-storey or six layers of temporary structures was used for building Chauk Htet Gyi Buddha Image. The first donor of the Image was Sir Bo Thar and the original Buddha Image was placed in space so it was decayed by the weather and was buried in the jungle for many years. In 1957 the Image was reconstructed and placed under the iron shady. The feature of the Image is lively eyes. The eyes were made up of glass and painted by Chinese. In Myanmar the feet form of common reclining are parallel but the feet of Chauk Htet Gyi are crossed. For getting the best photo the photo stand stage is placed near the feet. The relics were enshrined in the pillow. The history of the Buddha Image is painted and written in Myanmar and English back potion of the Image. Chauk Htet Gyi Reclining Image is larger is larger than  Shwe Thar Hlyaung Reclining Buddha Image at Bago.
