Shwedagon Pagoda is not only our National Land Mark in Myanmar but also one of the Wonders of the World. Every countries have their own National Land Mark. For example; American has Liberty, French has Eiffel Tower, China has Great Wall, India has Taj Mahal, Cambodia has Angkor Wat, Japan has Mount Fuji and so on. The high of Shwedagon Pagoda is 352 ft and it is situated on Singuttara Hill. There are two types of pagoda in Myanmar, stupa and temple. Stupa is solid shape and temple is hollow type. Shwedagon Pagoda is stupa. From the architecturally point of view the structure of the Pagoda is very excellent. Basic Terraces of the Pagoda are polygonal shape which has eight angles. They are called Low Terraces which have three steps. There are High Terraces on the Low Terraces and the High Terraces have sixteen angles. After the High Terraces all of next coming steps such as Bands, Bell shape Dome, Hemisphrical Dome until Banana Bud are circular shape. The technique changing from sixteen angles polygonal shape to circular shape is very amazing. Shwedagon Pagoda is an alive place. The moving of pilgrims are as like as a live show and the same facts of them are peace and quiet. Some are meditating, some are sweeping, some are paying homage and some are watching the people.
