There are two types of pagodas in Myanmar; stupa which means solid type and temple which means hollow type. In Bagan the most famous stupa type is Shwezigon Pagoda, prototype of later Myanmar Stupa and temple type is Anannda Pagoda, the finest of art.
The Temple type pagoda came from India because the temple which is located when the pagoda is India temple style.Therefore many archeological decoration can be put at this type.Ordinary foundation of India temple is square but the foundation of Ananda temple is Greek-Cross.The archeological tactic and the building system of the temple is amazing.The pillars were not been used to support the domes.They created the walls as two corridors not only to support the domes but also to share the resistance of center core.On the walls are placed the inner windows far lighting and avoiding the echo.There are many places for painting for decorating of the temple is very huge so.Four standing Buddha images are placed at each side.These Buddha images are clearly see when you enter along the archways because of the light fall directly on the faces of them.These light came for across the windows which are let in the domes.The existence of the doors are shown the light standard of black smith during Bagan Period.
