Samusa or Myanmar Snack

Samusa is not Myanmar traditional food. It is really Indian food. But it has generally consumed in Myanmar for a long time. Not only Samusa but also other farinaceous Indian foods such as Palatar, Puri, Japarty are popular in Myanmar society. Seasoning the condiment or spices into the curry is also Indian custom. That is easy way to make Samusa. First, ratio of  flour, water, salt and butter are mixed then knead to become paste. That paste is to make slice. If we have enough time for making slice we can buy easily ready made slice from any market. Then take the small pieces of paste to get small balls and hit the balls to become flat. And then stretch the flat to get slices. Then those slices are heated in oven do not contain oil. Next chop up potatoes, onions, cabbage and meat and then condiment, salt and sugar are mixed to those chopped vegetable. After that take one slice put mixture and then fold to get triangle shape and close by paste because Samusa is triangle shape. Finally fry raw Samusa until it’s brown on both sides. Samusa can buy easily every tea shops all over Myanmar. Samusa is playing the important role in Myanmar breakfast. Moreover Samusa salad is very delicious. You can taste Samusa in our Mandalay foodie tour. Yangon food stall, Mandalay food stall are very popular in our guests.
