Christmas in Myanmar

Every religious has one of special day that is concerned with their God. Nowadays many religious are practiced at every country all over the world but the holidays are promulgated according to the majority of religious at each country. The special day for Buddhist is Kason Full Moon Day, for Hinduism is Diwali Day, for Islam is Eid and for Christianity is Christmas. Actually the month and date of Jesus’s birth are unknown but the Bible express Chris was born the coldest day of the coldest month of the year. Firstly people held Christmas in January by finally people appointed the Christmas day on 25.December because normally it is the coldest day of the year.

Why Christmas is very important in Myanmar?

Moreover December is full of happiness because it is the last month of Global Calendar so that becomes Special Holidays. Most people plan to spend valuably their X’Mas and New Year Holiday. At the beginning of December the features of Christmas such as X’Mas trees, Santa Clauses and Red Berries can be seen at Hotels, Super Markets, Shopping Malls and many public places. A Pine tree which is above 3 meter is decorated with many accessories, parcels, presents and artificial snow. Nowadays artificial Xmas trees are sold but most people prefer real pine tree, cutting and carrying back that are and decorating to become is sufficient X’Mas trees. There are many activities to create X’Mas trees and those experiences are invaluable for each families.

Santa Clause

Next important feature is a Santa Clause. When we hear his name , we can image an old man with red clothes and a long white beard. Children believe he brings them presents at Christmas. Actually first presents observe what things their children want to get and after that they buy them and put into the sock and hung children’s bed secretly. When their children find them they tell Santa Clauses let these presents. Therefore all X’Mas activities are full of strong connection between family members. So everyone call December “Sweet December”.
